In Ukraine, gangsters illegally mine amber

In Ukraine, over the years, illegal mining of amber has been conducted near the town of Olevsk, which is located in the Zhytomyr region. Recently, the gangsters have reached the point that they have established their roadblocks. They only allow locals to drive along country roads, checking their registration.

In the forests of the Olevsky district there are many illegal tent camps for amber workers. They are fenced with barbed wire.

Local authorities know about everything, but they can do nothing. There are very few policemen in the area, so the bandits do not take them seriously.

Yuri Khalimonchuk, who heads the Olevsky District Council, said that the camps of illegal amber miners are constantly guarded by armed people.

The last few forests have been damaged by irreparable harm, as many holes have been dug in them.
