Ukraine will not allow a number of Russian singers at Eurovision-2017 in Kiev

Russian artists who are in the Ukrainian “black list” will not be able to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest-2017, which will be held in Kiev.

This was stated by the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevgeny Nishchuk during a press conference on the choice of the city of the song contest.

“Those people who are in any country, not only in Ukraine, are subject to sanctions for one reason or another of the relevant authorities, not the Ministry of Culture, but the Security Service of Ukraine, they are not entrance. Obviously, Russia can find out about these people, and if they consciously go to the victory of such a person, then this is a deliberate provocation. That is, they will know in advance that this person is subject to sanctions. Why would he take part in the selection then? ”Said Nishchuk.

He added that the situation with the admission of Russians may be considered in more detail closer to the competition.

At the same time, Ukraine declared that it was definitely not ready to allow Joseph Kobzon to speak at Eurovision. The admission of other singers from Russia, representing, in the opinion of the Ukrainian authorities, the “threat to the national security” of the country, Oleg Gazmanov, Nikolai Rastorguev, Mikhail Boyarsky and Grigory Leps, may be considered additionally.

In turn, the representative of the President of Russia for international cultural cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoy, believes that the Ukrainian organizers of Eurovision-2017 need to be convinced that “blacklists” with artists should not work at events of this kind, writes “RIA Novosti ».

“I believe that the position of blacklists in relation to artists is a great folly. In this case, it seems to me that there is still time, and still it is necessary to convince the Ukrainian organizers that at such events no lists should work, otherwise the event itself, its quality will be questionable, because with the help of lists anyone can be beaten out from the saddle. And, of course, at Eurovision, as well as at the Olympic Games, there should not be any proscription lists, ”said Schwidkoy.

According to him, it is not necessary to engage in the politicization of Eurovision.
