Utilities helped New Yorker Shannon Lombardo find randomly thrown wedding rings, writes lenta.ru.
“I cleaned them, wrapped them in a paper towel, and then I think I got distracted by the kids. Everything somehow went wrong. It’s my own fault…” she explains.
The woman forgot that she was lying in a towel, crumpled it up and threw it in the trash. After some time, Lombardo realized what had happened, and called 311, which allows you to contact various municipal services. According to her, she almost did not hope for help, but decided that there was nothing to lose.
In the Department of Sanitation of New York agreed to delay the removal of garbage from the apartment building where the woman lives, but it was too late. She checked the bags carried to the street and quickly realized that the rings were no longer there.
Together with her husband she had to go to the garbage sorting complex in Fairview, New Jersey. His co-workers determined which garbage truck served the Lombardo house in Manhattan and helped to sort the contents of the 800 bags delivered by the machine. After about an hour the rings were found.
“Everyone wanted to help me. It wasn't a very good job. There was a lot of garbage in the bags! But we did it,” the woman told reporters. nydailynews.com.
