“Drank a lot and appeared in public in underwear”: The Washington Post described the last days of Mikhail Lesin

In the last days before his death in a hotel room in Washington, DC, the former press minister of Russia and the initiator of the creation of the TV channel Russia Today Mikhail Lesin drank a lot of alcohol and appeared in public in a shirt and underwear.

This was reported edition The Washington Post, referring to the police report on the investigation of the death of Lesin.

2 November 2015, Lesin settled in the hotel Four Seasons. After 5 minutes after being placed in the room, he took a small bottle of vodka and a cola from the minibar.

3 November in 13: 45 Lesin met at the hotel with his friend, whose name was not disclosed. When the guard, after 7 minutes, entered Lesina’s room, he found him “unconscious on the bed”.

After 4 hours after this, the media magnate again took the alcohol from the mini-bar, took his friend to the lobby and returned to the room. The same evening, the guards noticed a bruise under his left eye near Lesin, however, the police report did not report what had caused the injury.

After that, Lesin returned with a large amount of alcohol to his room in Four Seasonswhere several hours "walked back and forth in his room." In both hotels where Lesin lived, he was repeatedly seen drunk, and sometimes only in a blue shirt and black underwear.

At about 14 hours 4 November, one of the guards came into the room Lesina and described him as "stumbling drunk."

In 20: 16 the bodyguard found Lesin, who was lying on the floor, but still breathing, he could not wake up his leader.

On 11: 30 On November 5, a guard found the dead Lesin lying face down on the floor of his room. After that, the guard called 911, and the doctors who arrived arrived at the death of the media mogul.

In the issue, the police found many empty bottles of alcohol from the minibar, as well as 3 full bottles of Guinness beer and 2 closed bottles of red wine.

In the police report there is no answer to the question why the blow to the head was called the cause of death.

Initially, the family of Mikhail Lesin said that he died of a heart attack, later a version appeared that he died from a blow to the head. In October 2016, the investigation into the death of Lesin was discontinued, the incident was recognized as an accident.

Mikhail Lesin was the founder of Video International, which makes commercials for many TV channels in Russia, he also stood at the origins of the founding of channels Russia Today and NMG-TV. In 1999-2004, Lesin headed the Ministry of Press, Television and Radio Broadcasting, and Mass Media of Russia. Until 2009, he was an adviser to the president of Russia on media and information technology. In 2013-2015, he worked as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Media Holding.
