Mom let 5-year-old girl play with her smartphone: she skimped on Amazon for $ 4000

Massachusetts mom let her 5-year-old daughter play with her phone while driving. She was shocked to find that the girl ordered children's motorcycles and women's cowboy boots (Cossacks) on Amazon for almost $ 4000, reports UPI.

Jessica Nunez of Westport said she thought her daughter Lila was playing games on her phone during a recent trip home. But later, she discovered that the girl was shopping on Amazon.

Nunes found that Leela had spent $3922 on items including five pink and five blue kids' motorcycles, 10 pairs of size 7 women's cowboy boots, and a battery-powered kids' Jeep.

Nunes said she was able to cancel orders for the boots and half of the bikes, but the remaining bikes and jeep were later delivered to her home.

The mother said she didn't know how Lila was able to find items on Amazon, but her daughter was thinking about motorcycles the day before placing the order.

“She saw an older boy on a motorcycle like that, and Lila was upset because she was too small to ride it,” Nunez said. “I don’t know how she found this particular item.”

She said that Lila did not hide the fact that she deliberately went to the page of the store.

"She said, 'I just wanted it and got it,'" Nunes said.

Nunes said she is in the process of returning the items. She said she takes the incident as a "teachable moment."

“I told her that maybe if she behaves well and does some chores around the house, we can buy her a motorcycle that is more suitable for her age,” Nunes said.
