Lukashenka ordered to find oil and gas in Belarus
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko does not believe that there is no oil and gas in the depths of the country, Belta agency reports.
“In similar territories in Russia and other countries, a lot of oil and natural gas, as well as valuable metals, are produced, this creates the basis for the well-being and sustainability of any economy of any state,” Lukashenko said.
Accepting with the report the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Andrei Kovkhuto, the President demanded that mineral exploration be intensified.
Lukashenko noted that this issue had been raised before, but the former government and the former prime minister failed to cope with the task.
According to the president, the leaders of Venezuela, Zimbabwe and other countries in Latin America and Africa, “possessing enormous mineral wealth,” offer cooperation to Belarus.
The country's mineral resources will be discussed at the upcoming meeting with the President of Belarus, Lukashenka said.
“You must put an action plan for a serious study of our subsoil on my table,” he demanded from the minister and added that he would keep these issues under special control.
