"Colorado Shooter" sentenced to life imprisonment
A jury sentenced an American, James Holmes, accused of shooting cinema visitors in 2012, to life imprisonment.
The jury — nine women and three men — could not reach a unanimous decision on the death penalty in two days, so Holmes automatically received a life sentence without the right to parole.
Earlier, the court found Holmes guilty on all counts.
In 2012, Holmes came to the cinema of the city of Aurora, Colorado, with a gun, a pistol and a shotgun for the premiere of the film about Batman. He walked into the hall through the emergency exit and opened indiscriminate shooting at the audience.
The victims of the incident were twelve people. The youngest of the dead was six years old. Another 70 man was injured.
