Clinton drew attention to the threat of false news. Video
Former US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton called "false news" a threat that needs to be urgently addressed, writes Voice of America.
“We need to stand up for our democracy,” Clinton said at an event in honor of outgoing Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid.
She criticized the "epidemic of malicious false news and false propaganda that have flooded social networks over the past year."
Clinton called on both the state and private sector to combat the spread of false information.
“It has become clear that so-called “fake news” can have real-world consequences. And this concerns not only politics and inter-party relations. Life is at risk. The lives of ordinary people who are trying to just go about their business, do their job, contribute to society,” she added.
Clinton herself was the victim of false news: for example, claims appeared on the Internet that she runs a pedophile network that operates under the cover of a pizzeria in Washington. On Sunday, a man from North Carolina opened fire at this pizzeria.
Earlier, lawyers said that Hillary Clinton can challenge the results of the elections to the Supreme Court and become the next US president.
At the moment, Clinton has been given more than a million votes to 2,6 than Trump, but she lost the election because of a peculiar electoral system in the USA.
