Kiev next week will sign an open sky treaty with the US
Next week, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine hopes to sign an agreement with the United States on the liberalization of the air transportation market between the countries, which will simplify the procedure for operating flights and remove a number of restrictions on flights.
“I have hope that next week I will sign an Open Skies Treaty with the Americans,” Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Andriy Pivovarsky said at a briefing.
In May, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, by decree, authorized Pivovarsky to sign the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union and its member states on the Joint Aviation Space (“Open Skies”).
The signing of the Open Skies agreement is expected to liberalize the Ukrainian air transportation market and allow European companies to operate freely in Ukraine, and Ukrainian companies to operate in Europe. The document will guarantee access to the Ukrainian market for European low-cost companies, as well as the right of Ukrainian and European companies to operate flights between Ukraine and EU countries without interstate coordination of routes.
