“I slept on the plane. The only thing I remember is bodies flying past me. It was actually very scary,” he said.

But then one gentleman fell from the ceiling of the salon and hit the armrest next to me, and it became real very quickly,” Brian shared his memories. “I was sure that we were falling and had already come to terms with the fact that the situation was not under my control.” I couldn’t shake the feeling that this would all end soon.”

“The plane nosedived sharply, and then after a few seconds it almost leveled off,” Brian noted.

“There was blood on the ceiling, people broke the ceiling of the plane when they fell,” said a passenger on that flight.

Brian described the remainder of the flight as particularly "scary" for the injured passengers.

“People were treated by various doctors on board who helped in any way they could,” he explained.

As the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner landed safely in Auckland, emergency crews treated the 50 people on board.

“Some passengers suffered serious cuts and were bleeding,” Brian continued. “There were several people with neck braces who were in a horizontal position and were waiting for help. As far as I know, there was a person in the back who needed serious help.”

According to him, when he got off the plane, he took the opportunity to ask the captain what happened.

“He said he lost control of the dashboard, which just went dark for a split second. There was no warning,” Brian explained. “They say the plane fell about 120m instantly and the rest is history.”

Twelve people were taken to a local hospital, one in serious condition. Brian, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident, remained unharmed. Same as in Japan 379 people saved themselves from a burning plane due to compliance with safety rules.
