Which airlines fly to Russia and use its airspace
Some airlines still fly into Russian airspace. There are certain factors that force them to maintain flight routes over Russia, reports AirlaneRating.
Following its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in the spring of 2022, Russia faced swift sanctions from many countries. This led to the closure of Russian airspace to most international airlines. But looking at Flightradar24, it's easy to see that Russian airspace is still very active, with several airlines still flying through the airspace.
Europe
In September 2023, four European airlines continued to use Russian airspace and operate flights to Russian destinations.

These are Turkish Airlines and Pegasus Airlines (Turkey), Air Serbia (Serbia) and Belavia (Belarus). This can largely be explained by the strong diplomatic relations these countries have with Russia. Turkish Airlines stands out as the airline with the widest coverage, serving a total of seven Russian destinations. Meanwhile, Air Serbia continues to fly to four Russian cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi.
Asia
Unlike North America and Europe, most Asian countries have not imposed sanctions, meaning the only airlines currently avoiding Russian airspace are those that do so voluntarily.

China is the leading country with the largest number of airlines that fly through Russian airspace. Well-known Chinese carriers such as Air China, Beijing Capital Airlines, China Eastern, China Southern, Hainan Airlines and Xiamen Air primarily use this airspace to reach destinations in Western Europe, although they also fly to destinations in Russia.
EL AL, Emirates and Etihad continue to operate flights through Russian airspace.
