How Russian avitourists treat applause when landing

About half of Russian aviation tourists consider the tradition of clapping their hands immediately after landing an aircraft to be a positive development. This was the conclusion of the Skyscanner travel service, which conducted an online survey among travelers.

According to the data obtained, 47 percent of compatriots approve of the tradition to applaud pilots of an aircraft after landing, 28 percent of respondents are nervous and 25 percent are indifferent to it.

According to experts of the online service, opponents of applause explain their rejection of this custom by saying that "this is stupid and indecent." At the same time, some of them are irritated by loud sounds, and some consider the tradition to be meaningless. “The pilots still do not hear anything behind their armored door,” they note.

In turn, lovers of clapping their hands explained that with their actions they want to thank the crew of the aircraft for a comfortable and safe flight, especially if it was not easy.

Skyscanner also learned the opinion of the captain of the aircraft and flight attendants of regular passenger flights. Aviation workers reported that crew members are usually very grateful for the applause, although they are really hard to hear in the cockpit. Passengers usually report the applause of passengers to pilots.

According to the representatives of the crew, most often they clap on charter flights and long international flights to warm countries, less often - on flights of European airlines.
