Interpol explained Yanukovych’s exclusion from his base
Interpol has temporarily restricted access to the file of the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych due to the fact that the defense appealed the ex-president’s announcement on the international wanted list, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine referring to the local Interpol office.
“The consideration of the case on the merits is planned for the next session of the commission for monitoring Interpol files, which will take place in September this year,” the statement says.
Earlier it was reported that the dossier on Viktor Yanukovych disappeared from the official website of Interpol. Lawyers for the former president of Ukraine said that Interpol suspended the search, and the case against Yanukovych was called political.
Viktor Yanukovych, who left Ukraine last February, entered the Interpol 12 January 2015 database. In Ukraine, the ex-president is expected to be held criminally liable under the article on misappropriation and embezzlement of property on a particularly large scale.
