A town in Italy sells historic homes for $ 1
The Italian town of Ollolai sells some of its historic homes for just € 1 (about $ 1,2).

The village is located in the region of Barbagia in Sardinia, it is located near 200 stone houses that need new owners, writes Travel and Leisure.
However, each of the houses available for € 1 needs to be repaired. Under the terms of the sale, the buyer within three years after the acquisition of the house must make repairs, which will cost somewhere in 25 000 dollars.
The authorities of Ollolai hope that the sale of houses will help to preserve the historical architecture of the city that needs to be repaired, and also lead to an increase in the population, which over the past 50 years has been reduced from 2 250 people to 1300.
“We are proud of the prehistoric origins of the settlement,” said the village's mayor, Efisio Arbau.
Houses diverge quickly. Arbau said that three sales have already been completed, and he received even more 100 requests from potential buyers from around the world.
The initiative is part of an Italian project called “Case a 1 euro”, which includes properties in Sicily, Tuscany and Abruzzo. Selling the houses for a nominal sum serves the long-term goal of stopping the destruction of historic buildings and population decline in small Italian towns.
