France is ready to return money to Russia for the Mistrals

If the Mistral class ships are never transferred to Russia, France is ready to return the money paid by Moscow for them. This was stated by French President Francois Hollande during a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko in Paris. Oland plans to discuss the issue of helicopter carriers with Vladimir Putin on Friday, where both presidents plan to meet during a visit to Armenia.

But, but as Hollande says in the current situation, “in the context of which we all know,” the transfer of these ships to Russia is impossible.

France was supposed to transfer to Russia two amphibious helicopter carrier last year. According to official Paris, the Mistrals will be transferred to the customer only after Moscow has fully implemented the Minsk agreements to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

In Moscow, after intending to sue Paris, they announced that if the contract fails, they will demand the return of the money they paid. Then Putin said that Russia does not really need Mistrals.
