Florida Hires Python Hunters
Florida Water Management has decided to increase the number of python hunters in the region and expand the territory in which they can hunt these snakes.
In March, 2017, the agency already hired 25 hunters to destroy snakes in Miami-Dade County, the newspaper writes Tampabay.
Now the territory of the work of hunters will be expanded to Broward and Collier counties.
As of June 11, hunters killed 158 pythons. A hunter's salary is $8,10 an hour, plus bonuses based on the length of each snake he kills.
The state allocated $ 175 thousand to fight pythons intensively spreading in Florida, and less than $ 50 thousand were spent on hunters' labor until now.
Pythons are blamed for reducing the mammal population in Everglades Park. In addition, they can be dangerous to humans.
