The film about the Maidan will compete for Oscar
The documentary film “Winter on Fire: Ukraine's Fight for Freedom” was included in the list of 15 nominees for the most prestigious film award, the Oscars.
A film about Maidan, produced by the American TV channel Netlflix, will compete for a gold statuette in the Documentary Film category.
The list selected from 1 pictures, announced by 124 December, included:
- Amy.
- Best of Enemies (Best of enemies).
- Cartel Land (Land Punisher).
- Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief (Obsession).
- He Named Me Malala (He called me Malala).
- Heart of a Dog.
- The Hunting Ground (hunting grounds).
- Listen to Me Marlon (Listen to me, Marlon).
- The Look of Silence.
- Meru (Meru).
- 3 1 / 2 Minutes, 10 Bullets (3,5 minutes and 10 ammo).
- We Come as Friends (We came in peace).
- What Happened, Miss Simone? (What happened, Miss Simon?).
- Where to Invade Next (Where else would invade).
- Winter on Fire: Ukraine's Fight for Freedom (Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom).
Among the favorites on this list is the film Amy» about the deceased British singer Amy Winehouse and “The Look of Silence” about massacres in Indonesia.
The 88 Academy Award Awards will be held on February 28 2016 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
