'These animals are crazy': Trump spoke sharply about the terrorist attack in London

US President Donald Trump called those involved in the incident near the Houses of Parliament in the British capital “animals” who need to be firmly confronted with force.

The man driving the Ford Fiesta silver car hit the pedestrians and cyclists in central London. He was detained by the police shortly after the incident and is now in custody.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta, according to police, is 25-30 years old. At the time of hitting the passers-by in the car, except for him, there was no one else. In the field of view of law enforcement and security services, the man had not previously appeared. He refuses to cooperate with the police, according to Scotland Yard.

“The driver of the car was detained by police at the scene. Several passers-by were injured,” Scotland Yard said. At least two people were injured; police say their lives are not in danger.

According to the Daily Mail, citing eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 7: 30 in the morning local time. Passers-by saw a silver car crash into a fence and heard a loud bang.

Armed police arrived at the scene, pulled the driver out of the car and took him away. According to the newspaper, the police are investigating the incident as a serious traffic accident.

Currently, Parliament Square is cordoned off: metal and concrete barriers are installed on the square. As the correspondent of the BBC Callum May reported, a large number of police officers were pulled to the scene. According to journalists, there are about 200 police officers in the square. Doctors right on the square provide first aid to victims of the incident. According to journalists, ambulances and fire trucks also arrived at the scene.

Westminster tube station is closed to entry and exit; underground passengers arriving at this station can only transfer to another line.

“I think it was a deliberate action - the car was driving at high speed towards the barriers,” says eyewitness Evelina Ochab.

“All I saw was smoke coming from a car, a silver car... I just stopped the bus. The police said that we should drive back. Then, less than 5 minutes later, the police arrived,” bus driver Victor Ogbomo, who was passing the square when the incident occurred, told the Independent.
