George Clooney announced his readiness to boycott the Oscars

American actor, two-time Oscar winner George Clooney commented on the scandal surrounding the fact that black actors and actresses were not included in the list of nominees for this year's award.

According to Clooney, the film academy is moving in the wrong direction. The actor recalled that a decade ago there were significantly more African Americans among the nominees. Now, he believes, the latter have every reason to complain.

Clooney noted that the essence of the problem lies not in how many African Americans received or did not receive a nomination for a specific film award, but in how many opportunities the industry in general represents to minorities.

The actor stressed that his colleagues are faced with discrimination not only of African, but also of Hispanic origin, and their situation is even worse. In this regard, Clooney urged the American Film Academy to change.
