Trump's former congressional lawyer lashes out at President

Former US Attorney Donald Trump Michael cohenconvicted of tax crimes and giving false testimony to the US Congress, at the hearings in the House of Representatives in his opening remarks, he called the president a fraudster and racist.

According to Cohen, Trump decided to run for president in order to "make great" his brand, not America, and did not plan to win - the campaign was a “marketing opportunity” for him. The US president's former lawyer said he was ashamed of his work for him.

Michael Cohen also apologized to members of Congress for perjury in September 2017. The testimony concerned negotiations on the construction of Trump Tower in Moscow. Cohen said that they stopped in January 2016, although in fact, as the investigation established, negotiations continued until the summer of 2016, when Trump was already the only Republican candidate for the US presidency.

Republican members of the Oversight Committee, before whom Cohen spoke, demanded that the testimony be rescheduled because they received the text of his opening statement too late. Committee Vice Chairman James Jordan said at the beginning of the hearing that Democrats invited Cohen to continue “lying about the president.” According to Jordan, Democrats are going to use Cohen's testimony in the fight for Trump's resignation.
