Bill Gates donated 40 million dollars to create a cow with high yields
Founder of the company Microsoft Bill Gates donated more than 40 million to a non-profit organization GALVmedengaged in genetic research and the development of vaccines for livestock. Gates hopes that they will create a cow there that will be able to give four times more milk than today's individuals, writes News Ru.
The billionaire visited the University of Edinburgh, whose specialists will work on the project. The money will be used to create an “ideal cow” that combines the features of European and African individuals - high productivity and endurance in hot conditions.
“The efficiency per dollar spent here is very high. We can get a cow that produces four times as much milk with the same vitality,” Gates said.
Previously, the entrepreneur proposed to create such cows by artificial insemination.
