American is suing hospital for leg dumped
Florida resident John Timiriaseff sued Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables for throwing his amputated foot in a landfill. Reports about it Reuters.
A leg with the patient’s name tag on it was discovered by employees of a local garbage collection company. They reported the finding to the police.
A month after the operation, the police went to the Timiryazeff family and asked if he was a victim of a crime. Then the representatives of his family went to the hospital, but they did not provide any explanation.
The hospital said they could not share the details of what happened for reasons of privacy. At the same time, they noted that the institution had taken all measures so that such cases would not be repeated in the future.
Timiryazeff's lawyer Clay Roberts noted that in a normal situation, amputated parts of the body are burned in hospitals. However, what happened to the leg of his client is described in the lawsuit as an act “beyond human decency”.
