Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright and the police received a warrant to search for property related to missing boyfriend Cala Brown Charlie Carver. Going on a mission, they accidentally heard a human cry in the depths of the forest. The police noticed an iron container with an outer lock in a private area in the countryside. Having broken the lock, the authorities saw a woman in chains. She was Kala Brown, who disappeared at the end of August 2016. She was chained around a neck.

It turns out that from the day of his disappearance, Brown had spent all the time imprisoned in an iron container. She was lucky that she was able to survive in such conditions in the heat. There was no air circulation in the container, and she could just suffocate. They fed her 2 once a day, without removing the chain. Immediately after Brown’s release, police arrested her kidnapper Todd Kolhepp, who owns the farm. Previously, he was prosecuted for sexual offenses.

Cala Brown and Charles Carver met for several months and planned a joint future, until 31 August 2016, the couple disappeared, tells Life.ru. They left 30-year-old Kala’s beloved dog in the apartment without food or water. Also missing was the car of 32-year-old Charles, who took nothing of his clothes with him. No one could explain what could have happened to the missing people, when suddenly a message appeared on Charles’s Facebook page.

It said that lovers played a wedding and even managed to buy a house. However, the text was written with errors and in a strange manner, not typical of Charles. And none of the relatives could believe that the couple had not invited them to such an important event as the wedding. The mysterious post only excited people even more, but only two months later the terrible truth became known.

Police tracked the signals from the mobile phones of the missing. This led them to real estate agent Todd Kolkhep. Kala helped him with the business by doing house cleaning, and Charles came with her. It turned out that the woman was on a large plot with a house in Woodruff, trying on at the time when she disappeared. The officers went on reconnaissance.

Kala was found alive. The man shot Charles and then chained Kala. Police found Todd at a nearby home and arrested him. Todd was a respected man, drove an expensive car and even had a pilot's license. However, as soon as he was arrested, the man showed his true colors. He said that three bodies were buried on the site. One of those killed was Charles, and the other two were Johnny Coxey and his wife Megan, who had disappeared a year earlier. However, Todd didn’t stop there; he wanted to finally show off his bloody “successes.”

He also confessed to the slaughter in a motor show in which four people were shot. The case could not reveal 13 years. Despite the fact that Todd was one of his clients, he still remained above suspicion. In this way, the killer avenged the fact that the store refused to take back his motorcycle.

But there was a much more shocking confession. Todd left a review on Amazon about the weapons he used to commit the killings. In particular, he left more 140 reviews about knives and tactical equipment. About the padlock the man wrote the following:

“Works great... If someone snaps, go old school... Put a padlock in your sock and hit him!”

Already from childhood, Todd showed exorbitant cruelty - he mocked the animals, beat up friends, wrecked his bedroom. In the 1986 year, when he was only 15 years old, Todd kidnapped an 14-year-old girl in Arizona. He threatened her with a pistol and forced her to return home, where he tied her up and raped her. He pleaded guilty to the abduction, and other charges were dropped in exchange for 15 years in prison.

Todd was released after 14 years and moved to South Carolina. He started a new life, but it only became worse than before. An entire arsenal of weapons was found on the territory of his house. In May 2017, he pleaded guilty to seven counts of murder and was sentenced to seven life sentences without the possibility of parole. The deal spared him the death penalty. However, the mother of 47-year-old Todd came to his defense. “Nobody understood him... Todd is not a monster. He didn't do it for fun, he did it because he was angry and it hurt."
