Adidas started selling shoes printed on 3D printer
Manufacturer of sportswear and footwear Adidas announced the beginning of the sale of a limited batch of shoes printed on the 3D printer. The series is called “3D Runner”.
The prototype for the design of the new sneakers was the “Futurecraft 3D” model. Based on it, “award” sneakers were made for the winning athletes of the Olympic Games in Rio. Olympic line "Triple Black Futurecraft"Even produced with gold, silver and bronze heels - in accordance with the merits of specific Olympians.
It is reported that the version of “3D Runner” will be priced at $ 333 per pair, which is about two times cheaper than the cost of “Futurecraft 3D”.
The company said that the main feature of such shoes is 3D-printed soles of variable stiffness. Depending on the distribution of loads, some areas are more resilient than others, with a corresponding increase in comfort and impact. In addition, the heel is integrated directly into the sole, and therefore does not require gluing or stitching, somewhat simplifying production and increasing reliability, specifies Engadget.
Pre-orders are already accepted, and 3D sneakers will be available from December 15 at Adidas retail stores in New York, London and Tokyo.
