How to get rid of calendar spam on Apple devices
Over the past month or so, iPhone owners who use Apple iCloud’s calendar have been subject to spam attacks, reports The Wall Street Journal.
Spammers send invitations that are automatically added to calendars. Thus, the user can receive a notification in 9 in the morning about some kind of discount, etc.
You shouldn't assume that your iCloud account has been hacked. This is like email spam, except that there is no special Spam folder where such messages are filtered.
In Apple, the situation is commented like this:
“We regret that some of our users are receiving spam invitations,” an Apple spokesperson said. “We are actively working to resolve this issue by identifying and blocking suspicious messages.”
Until Apple fixes the situation, users can take some action on their own to prevent these annoying notifications.
1 Tip: Do not decline invitations
If you decline the invitation, you are notifying the spammer that your account is active. Just ignore it.
The best way to remove one of these invitations is to create a new iCloud calendar inside your calendar and name it "Spam". (Open the app and select "Calendar" at the bottom of the screen, click "Add" in the top left corner, and then "Add Calendar.") Once you've done that, move the fake invitations to your new calendar called "Spam." and then delete the calendar.
2 Board. Disable iCloud calendar if you are not using it.
Sometimes the user may not know that he has iCloud Calendar active. In order to disable this application, you must: go to “Settings”, select ICloud - “Disable Calendar”.
3 Tip: Send Email Invitations to iCloud
If you are constantly using the iCloud calendar, you can choose to send an invitation to your email. This will prevent them from being automatically added to the calendar. Visit icloud.com in your browser.
Select "Calendar" and click on the gear icon in the bottom left corner. Click on "Settings", then the "Advanced" tab, then scroll down to invitations and click on the "Email [enter your email address]" button.
However, be aware that the next time you receive an invitation, you will have to manually add it to your calendar.
