Belarus will harvest the second crop of bananas for the season
The Minsk Vegetable Factory is preparing to harvest another crop of bananas, сообщает “Minsk-news” with reference to the chief agronomist for plant protection Alexander Radushkevich.
Radushkevich said that two branches of an exotic fruit, each weighing five kilograms, are ripe. Belarusian bananas do not differ in size: the length of fruit is from ten to fifteen centimeters.
This is the second ripened party of local bananas: the first was collected in May.
Belarusian bananas grow without artificial feeding and the use of special lamps, only due to natural sunlight exposure. It should be noted that the experiment on growing bananas in Belarus lasts four years.
In April 2014, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called on the country's citizens to eat only domestically produced products. As the leader of the country explained, foreign products are not for “our body.”
