Belarusians aged for three years
The average Belarusian has become approximately 15 years older over 2,9 years, with women “aging” by 3,1 years and men by 2,7 years.
As a result of the aging population, the average age of the republic's residents is increasing. At the beginning of 2015, the average age of men was 37,2 years, women - 42,4 years (for comparison: according to the 1999 population census, it was 34,5 and 39,3, respectively). Elena Kukharevich, Deputy Chairman of the National Statistical Committee, noted that the average age of the inhabitants of the planet is 29 years, in Europe - 39,9 years.
According to a Belstat representative, the average age of a Belarusian city resident is 38,7 years; over the past 15 years, a city resident has matured by 3,8 years. The average age of a rural resident is 44,3 years, and during this period a villager has become 2,3 years older.
According to statistics, the average age of the population of the regions differs from the average age of the population in the republic. Over the years, the youngest region of Belarus is the city of Minsk (38 years), followed by the Brest region (39,7 years), and the oldest region is the Vitebsk region (41,4 years).
The main indicator characterizing the health status of the population and its quality of life is life expectancy at birth. According to estimates, last year this figure was 73,2 years, with 67,8 years for men and 78,4 years for women. The gap in life expectancy between men and women reached 10,6 years.
