The Inner Cosmos "digital pill" consists of two parts: an electrode placed under the scalp and a "capsule" that clips onto the user's hair to power the device.

The implant sends tiny electrical impulses to the depressed area of ​​the brain - the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex - once a day for 15 minutes.

And the external device should not be on the head when not being treated.

A trial patient in St. Louis, MO, will be testing the Inner Cosmos innovation for one year, and the company plans to begin another human trial next month.

Musk's Neuralink recently held a product demonstration that showed a chip in a monkey's brain that allows it to control an on-screen keyboard and type full sentences.

Synchron began human trials in July of its brain implant, which allows the wearer to control a computer with just a thought.

The paperclip-sized Stentrode brain implant will be implanted in six New York and Pittsburgh patients who have severe paralysis.

Stentrode will allow patients to control digital devices with their minds and enable them to perform everyday tasks including texting, email and online shopping.

Research centers are also developing brain chips.

Southmead Hospital in Bristol is considered the first in the world to implant a device that eliminates the symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

However, the Inner Cosmos digital tablet (the smallest and least invasive technology to date is a penny-sized implant.

The implant operation takes 30 minutes in an outpatient facility.

Inner Cosmos was founded by entrepreneur Meron Gribets, who was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder as a child.

“Our mission is to create a world that restores the cognitive abilities of humanity by balancing the human mind,” Gribets explained. The world is in a state of serious disorder leading to disordered knowledge. The effects are felt by the millions, resulting in a dramatic increase in depression levels.”

“We believe our approach has the potential to make life easier for those who suffer from depression and eventually extend to other cognitive disorders,” he said.

Inner Cosmos' goal is to move away from prescription drugs and move towards more "effective treatments".

“Depression, Attention Deficit Disorder and Anxiety – 140 million Americans each year use medication to focus or treat depression. This is more people than those who have an iPhone, ”Gribets stated during the 2022 presentation.

The Inner Cosmos digital tablet is powered by a smartphone app that displays mood and depression graphs that you can share with your doctor.

The entrepreneur said this is the first time doctors will have access to this type of data, "saving the healthcare industry billions in misdiagnosing severe suicidal depression."

“This implant is 10 times smaller than the rest on the brain chip market, and we are very excited,” said Gribets. “It took us six years to build this thing.”
