Anonymous destroyed all data on the servers of Rosaviatsia: the service is switching to paper format
The Russian aviation regulator is switching to a paper version after it was subjected to a massive cyber attack by the hacker group Anonymous on March 26, as a result of which all data of the agency were lost, reports Ukrainian Truth.
The group announced this on Twitter.
“Powerful cyber attack on the servers of the Russian Civil Aviation Authority: no more data, no backups,” the group wrote.

Officially, the Federal Air Transport Agency does not recognize the hacker attack, although the site is still not working as of the evening of March 29. According to experts, the attack could have occurred using a “man in the middle” scheme, in which attackers hack into one of the partners and communicate with the victim on his behalf.

As a result of the cyber attack, approximately 65 TB of data were destroyed: all document flow, files on servers were erased, the State Services system was deleted, and all incoming and outgoing letters for a year and a half were lost. A search for a register of aircraft and aviation personnel is currently underway. The cyberattack was first reported by the Aviatorschina Telegram channel, the information was confirmed by sources in the Federal Air Transport Agency.
In addition, the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, Alexandra Neradko, told employees in an internal communication that due to the lack of access to the Internet and failures in the electronic document management system, the agency is switching to paper document management, courier mail and Russian Post.

The Federal Air Transport Agency does not have backup copies, “since the Ministry of Finance did not allocate money for this,” says a source of the Telegram channel. In Russia, they believe that the attack occurred due to poor performance of contractual obligations on the part of the contractor operating the IT infrastructure of the Federal Air Transport Agency.
