24 adults and a kid were shot in Chicago in just half a day
A three-year-old boy was the victim of a shooting in Chicago on Friday evening that left seven people wounded in one incident. In just 7 hours, from Friday afternoon to early Saturday morning, 14 people were injured as a result of shootings in the city. Not everyone was saved.
According to the police, a small child was injured in the left leg. The boy was taken to the hospital, where he remained in a stable condition. In the same shootout that happened around 3 at 1 pm on Friday in the southern part of Chicago, an 27-year-old man died who received bullets in his chest and arm, writes Fox News.
When the shots started, most of the people injured during the incident were on the sidewalk.
Another victim, a 27-year-old man, was shot in the upper half of his body and taken to St. Bernard's Hospital. His condition is not known. The third shooting victim was also a man and was taken by ambulance to the University of Chicago Medical Center. His fate is also unknown.
Three other people, ages 26, 29 and 30, were taken to St. Bernard's Hospital and are in stable condition. The 29-year-old was shot in the left calf muscle, the 30-year-old in the left leg. The youngest of the men was wounded in the left arm and leg. A stray bullet grazed a 38-year-old woman standing nearby. She was treated on the spot.
“Today, a three-year-old child was the victim of a mass shooting...another mass shooting in Chicago. Something needs to be done about this,” said Donovan Price, a pastor and crime victim advocate.
This incident only increased the number of victims on Bloody Friday in the Windy City. That same day, on the city's west side, a young man between the ages of 15 and 17 shot himself in the head after a brief police pursuit, Chicago police spokesman Anthony Gugliemi said. Officers spotted the teenager with a gun at approximately XNUMX p.m. They tried to ask him a couple of questions, but the guy ran away and then shot himself.
Earlier that day—a couple of hours before sunrise—two people were shot to death just 10 minutes apart in downtown Chicago. The first, a 20-year-old man, was shot in the stomach on the fifth floor of the parking lot. He was taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition. The suspect was arrested just a block from the garages.
In the second case, an 34-year-old man himself reached the hospital after he received a gunshot wound to the stomach on Wecker Drive approximately 40 minutes after midnight. There were no arrests in this case.
