During a honeymoon in Hawaii, a man drowned: newlyweds from California were also robbed
Stephen Fan and his wife Brittany celebrated their honeymoon in Honolulu. Phan went underwater while snorkeling off Electric Beach on June 1, reports The New York Post.
Fan was pulled ashore by a fisherman and bystanders began CPR before the first rescuers arrived.
The couple have only been married for three months, according to the GoFundMe page.
“On top of that, all of Brittany and Steven's belongings were stolen. The thieves took their cell phones, wallets, money, clothes, they even stole their rental car,” the GoFundMe page says.
Honolulu plans to place more lifeguards on city beaches following public outrage.
“We are all in shock, disbelief and heartbroken over the loss of a great man like Stephen,” the GoFundMe page reads. “Stephen always found a way to be a part of everyone’s lives, no matter the distance. He was a true friend and a wonderful husband and will be greatly missed by everyone.”
