In Texas, the deputy director of one of the high schools, Eric Hozer, was fired after he published the children's fairy tale "The Adventures of Pepe and Pede." The school leadership considered that the protagonist of the book - the frog Pepe - is associated with white nationalists.

The book was published in early August, but attracted the attention of social networks in connection with the riots and the march of neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, Virginia. In the description of the book on Amazon it is said that this is “an adventurous story for all ages, distinguished by patriotic content”.

"The Adventures of Pepe and Pede" tells the story of the Wishington Ranch, whose inhabitants are freed from an old farmer after eight years of oppression. According to the plot of the story, Pepe’s opponent is the bearded alligator Alkah, who is trying to turn the pond located on the ranch into a swamp,” the description says.

Publishers Post hill presswho published the book, it is considered unfair to dismiss Hozer.

“There are no hidden messages in the book. He created this character without realizing that it would lead to this reaction. This is a good story about the struggle of good against evil,” said the press secretary Post hill press Anthony Ziccardi.

Hozer confirmed that he lost his job after his book became popular on social networks. He also apologized to colleagues and their families, which his act could unpleasantly affect.

Recall that in May, the creator of the frog Pepe, Matt Fury, announced the official death of the Internet character. The reason for this was the political undercurrent that the meme acquired during the 2016 presidential campaign of the year, becoming a symbol of the white nationalists and the "alternative right".
