US recalls pneumonia drug because it can cause life-threatening infections

Camber Pharmaceuticals has recalled one batch of its pneumonia drug after it found it could be contaminated with Bacillus cereus bacteria, reports Yahoo.

“Among the most at-risk populations, the immunocompromised, there is a reasonable possibility that microbial contamination of Atovaquone Oral Suspension could result in life-threatening endocarditis and necrotizing soft tissue infections,” the recall notice reads. Camberpublished by the FDA on March 31.

This applies to Atovaquone 750 mg/5 ml oral suspension, batch number E220182, expiration date 12/2023.
