More than 32 of thousands of children disappeared in the USA
25 May in the United States held the National Day of Missing Children.
On this occasion Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) published data on missing minor Americans, in some cases, relatives and law enforcement officers have been searching for them for years.
According to the bureau, the most common threats that modern children face are online kidnappers (who lure kids using the Internet), traffickers, kidnappers, and other criminals who want to harm the kids.
As of the end of 2017, the National Crime Bureau of Information (NCIC), the missing people database, contained more than 32 000 records of missing persons younger than 18 years.
This figure is impressive, but the FBI is working regularly to search for missing children, and many cases of abduction and disappearances are safely solved in a fairly short time, and criminals are sent to prison.
In addition to operational work, the department has several programs and special departments that are working on finding missing children and detecting abductors. Among them are law enforcement units, as well as a number of outreach programs for the public, which help to inform parents and children about the security measures they should follow to avoid kidnapping, or recommendations on what to do if a crime has already occurred.
