It is also indicated that due to the weakness of the current US administration, Russia is occupying part of the territory of Ukraine and threatens its neighbors "from the Baltic to the Caucasus."

“We support action, and, if necessary, joint toughening of sanctions against Russia with our allies until the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine is fully restored. We also support the provision of the necessary assistance to the armed forces of Ukraine and greater coordination with NATO in the field of our defense planning, ”the program says.

Russia is also mentioned in the section on the goals of the foreign policy of the United States in various regions of the world.

“We reaffirm our respect for the people of Russia and our desire to maintain friendship with them, despite those who are trying to divide us. We have common interests: to end terrorism, fight the proliferation of nuclear weapons, develop trade ... We also have a common problem: the continuing erosion of personal freedom and fundamental rights, occurring under the authority of the current rulers in the Kremlin. - says the republican program. “We will respond to the return of Russian militancy with the same determination that led to the collapse of the Soviet Union.” We will not accept any territorial changes in Eastern Europe achieved by force - in Ukraine, Georgia and other places. And we will use all the necessary constitutional measures to bring to justice those who resort to aggression and murder. ”

The program also contains a promise to pay more attention to the countries of Eurasia - "the former parts of the Soviet empire," which "are trapped between two authoritarian neighbors." The authors of the program call for the integration of regional states into the global economy, which will reduce the influence of radical ideologies.
