Melanya Trump is suspected of violating US immigration laws
Scandalous publication photos of Melanie Trump in the nude caused in the press a lively discussion on how legal was the process of immigration of the wife of Donald Trump in the United States.
According to the official version, which Melanya herself voiced earlier in several of her interviews, she arrived in the United States in 1996 on the H-1B visa as a model. However, as Mrs. Trump admitted in an interview with Harper's Bazaar magazine, every few months she had to return to Europe to extend her visa. After 5 years, in 2001, she received a green card, and after 5 years - a US citizen passport.
Washington Post Journalists conducted an investigation and found a number of inconsistencies in this version of events.
First, if everything that Melanya Trump claims is true, then the story of the origin of the scandalous nudity photo shoot is not quite clear: as it turned out, the photos originally published in the French magazine Max were taken in New York in November-December 1995 years, that is, even before Trump (then still simply Melanya Knauss) obtained a work visa and flew over it to the USA.
On the question of how this could happen, the answer from Trump and her representatives was not followed. Does this mean that Melania violated the US immigration laws, working in the country, being the owner of a tourist visa? This is also not entirely clear: according to Mark Dolisi, who worked as editor-in-chief of Max magazine in 1995, Melanya Knauss did not receive a reward for participating in the photo shoot. This is a common practice among novice models. In addition, another important question remains to be clarified - did Melanier pay for the accommodation and expenses of the trip to New York to participate in the filming?
The second important inconsistency is that H1-B visa holders usually do not need to leave the country every few months to extend the visa - namely, Melanya Trump insists on this version of events.
The third mystery - exactly how Mrs. Trump received the coveted "green". This question, repeatedly asked the wife of Donald Trump, also received no response.
Today Melanya Trump decided to answer all those who doubt the integrity of her immigration process:
“Let me put an end to this story already. I have always followed the immigration laws of this country. Period,” this entry appeared on her Twitter, but it did not bring any clarity to the mysterious story.
Immigration lawyer from Arizona Natalia Polukhtina doubts the 100-percent truthfulness of Ms. Trump's immigration history.
“Let’s assume that she worked under H1B3 - if she’s not lying - and arrived in the mid-nineties, when it was possible to get into a short but blessed period when not 65, but 140 thousand work visas were issued per year. That is, theoretically, it was possible to get a visa without much competition with any programmers. However, you definitely don't have to leave the country every few months to work under H1B.
There is no such requirement for the O1 visa (assuming that the future wife of the presidential candidate had unique modeling talents and skills). You might consider H2-B if Melania had a creative lawyer who framed the modeling contract as a “seasonal necessity.” But with this category of visas you will not be able to achieve resident status, and time limits greatly limit your possibilities. And employment on a B1/B2 visa, which limits the period of stay in the United States to six months, is prohibited and is a complete violation of immigration laws,” she wrote in her блоге.
