The July 12 fire that occurred in the morning damaged a building of an Orthodox church in West Sacramento (the capital of California).

The incident occurred in the Russian Orthodox Church near Water Street.. Firefighters managed to quickly cope with the fire, but the building was still heavily damaged. This church in Sacramento has been operating since 1906.

At one o'clock in the morning, he checked whether everything was ready for the liturgy scheduled for 9 in the morning, dedicated to today's Orthodox holiday of Peter and Paul. And in the morning, before the service, someone from the neighbors, seeing smoke over the dome of the temple, called firefighters.
They arrived at 8 in the morning and immediately began to break open the door to enter the premises. The noise came out of his residential house, which is located on the territory of the temple, Father Matthew. What he saw shocked him. His heart was ready to break. An ambulance was called to him ...
At the scene of the tragedy, a depressing picture: absolutely everything burned inside the temple: the altar, icons, candlesticks, church utensils and dishes, ancient spiritual books, Gospels and Bibles in silver salaries, a choral platform on which the church choir sang, the clothes of the clergy and many more.

The severity of the lost is due to the fact that this year marks the 93 year. Information about this unique building is stored in the Historical Museum of California. This temple was the spiritual center for many and many immigrants from Tsarist Russia, the Soviet Union, the CIS countries and modern Orthodox immigrants.
