In New Mexico, a teenager shot a postman who intervened in his quarrel with his mother

New Mexico police 24 April arrested 17-year-old suspect in the murder of an employee of the US Postal Service 22 April, writes Fox News.

“Our detectives worked with the United States Postal Inspection Service to locate and arrest a suspect accused of murdering a local mail carrier. Thanks to everyone who helped,” the police said in a statement.

The arrest was “without incident,” Gilbert Gallegos, a local police spokesman, told reporters.

The name of the suspect is not disclosed because he is a minor. In the photo shown on local television, a teenager smiles and holds a big gun in his hands.

Postman José Hernandez was assassinated on April 22, intervening in a dispute between the suspect and his mother near their home in Albuquerque.

Hernandez used the hammer after the teenager "became aggressive" during the argument. The teenager is said to have taken a gun out of the house and shot Hernandez.

Neighbors tried to give Hernandez first aid, but he died at the scene.

"This is something completely unexpected," said Rod Spurgeon, a Postal Service spokesman.

According to family members, Hernandez was a veteran of the US Army and worked in the Postal Service 12 for years. He was from Phoenix.

On April 23, a small memorial was created near the post office where Hernandez worked. “Rest in peace Jose,” the sign on the tree read.
