Latvia says it will not follow
Lithuanian example and will not restore conscription. According to the Latvian political consultant Jurgis Liepinieks, not only all men at the age of 18-55 should be trained and be able to mobilize during 40 hours. Women as well.
The fact is, the political strategist believes, that the world community can treat the attack on Latvia very indifferently. Therefore, the Latvians themselves should take care of security. And rely on themselves.
“How many of you care about the fact that 90 people were killed last night in Syria because they were Christians? Yes, yes, the rest of the world is interested in the security of Latvia to the same extent.
“Of course, it would be terrible if 20-30 thousand Latvians died in a military conflict. However, the world would not have stopped spinning, and the world war would not have started,” Liepnieks wrote.
