The California Bureau of Marihuana Control has issued new rules that prohibit the delivery of cannabis by drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) by air, land and water. In addition, marijuana was forbidden to deliver bicycles.

These rules are the first result of the Bureau of Marihuana Control after the legalization of the drug in the state of California.

The rules state the following:

Cannabinoids must be delivered in commercial trucks or trailers. It is forbidden to transport by air, water and railway without drivers, as well as by drones and other means.

In addition, only those retailers who have a license for this can deliver the grass. Cars with drivers that transport it must be covered and with a GPS module, so that the customer can track the path of the truck.

Several startups in April 2017 announced the delivery of recreational marijuana using drones: MDelivers, Eaze, Trees Delivery other. The bureau is about to begin issuing licenses for the sale of marijuana on January 1 of 2018.

Seven other states have also legalized recreational marijuana. But do not expect that the delivery of grass by drones will become possible in the near future.

Federal Aviation regulations require air drones to fly into view of a pilot. And even if these rules are changed, as insisted Amazon and other retailers, local governments and states can still regulate the distribution of marijuana on their own.
