Protest actions took place in dozens of Russian cities: almost 300 people were detained

The rallies are taking place in more than 70 cities of the country, in most of them they were not coordinated with local authorities - the organizers obtained permission to hold rallies in only 12 cities, in the remaining 59 they are taking place without permission from the authorities, which led to mass arrests of their participants, writes ATS-info.

As of 16: 30 Moscow time, ATS-Info is aware of 294 detainees. The most massive arrests took place in Yekaterinburg (58 people); Omsk (43); Krasnodar (28); St. Petersburg (24); Tver (20); Ufa (17); Khabarovsk (14); Tomsk (13) and Novosibirsk (10).

In a number of cities, protesters were detained from 1 to 10. At a rally in Moscow, 9 people were detained.

An all-Russian action against pension reform organized by Navalny takes place in Russia on a single voting day, when residents choose their representatives to various levels of government.

Navalny himself is not participating in the action - the oppositionist is serving 30 days of arrest in a pre-trial detention center for organizing a previous unauthorized rally.

September 8 representatives of the headquarters of Navalny was outraged that paid paid advertisements of protest actions were removed from YouTube, writes TJ.

The head of the politician's headquarters, Leonid Volkov, suggested that YouTube did this, guided by the “day of silence” - a day without any political advertising, which, according to Russian law, must take place before elections in the country.

According to Volkov, Google, the owner of YouTube’s video hosting service, blocked ads at midnight on September 8. At the headquarters of Navalny they directly linked the reaction of the American company with the claims of the Russian state bodies.

“For the first time in history, Google has satisfied the illegal demands of the Russian authorities and demolished our paid advertising for the 9 / 9 rally from YouTube. Rotation of most of our clips is blocked. The blocking occurred at midnight, and we believe that this is a reaction of Google to the letter of the Central Election Commission - that is, they believe that our videos should be blocked because of the “day of silence”. At the same time, advertising blocking does not depend on whether there are elections in the region or not, as well as on whether a rally in this region has been agreed upon or not (for example, in Cheboksary a rally has been agreed upon and there are no elections, however, Google has closed our advertising campaign there too) "- said Volkov.

Later the company Google confirmed removal of Navalny's advertising, but did not explain why she did it.

“We consider all reasonable requests from government agencies. We also require that advertisers act in accordance with local laws and our advertising policies,” Google said.
