Trump wants to appoint a politician with Ukrainian roots in the State Department

One of the top positions in the US State Department can be taken by an American politician and foreign policy expert Paul Dobriansky, who has Ukrainian roots, writes with reference to Bloomberg New time.

"The Trump administration plans to nominate Paula Dobriansky, President George W. Bush's top diplomat, to a top policy position at the State Department," the report said.

Previously, Dobriansky worked on the positions of the special envoy of the United States in Northern Ireland, as well as the US Undersecretary of State in global affairs. It is planned that she will replace Thomas Shannon, who is now in the second position in the US foreign policy department and has already announced his intention to retire.

As the newspaper notes, the appointment of Paula Dobriansky emphasizes how quickly President Donald Trump and the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are progressing in filling out the governing structures of the State Department.

Dobriansky is currently working as a senior fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard. She was born in the American family of Ukrainian origin. Her father, Lev Dobriansky, for many years headed the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA).
