Trump refused to Prime Minister of Canada in a personal meeting at the UN General Assembly
US President Donald Trump rejected a request from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to hold a one-on-one meeting at the UN General Assembly session.
As the American leader explained, he rejected the request of the Canadian Prime Minister about the meeting, because the bilateral negotiations on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) are going badly and also because the United States is dissatisfied with the negotiators of Canada, reports New Time.
“We are very unhappy with the negotiations and Canada's negotiating style. We really don't like their representative,” Trump said.
Trump then told reporters he rejected Trudeau's request for a meeting "because his tariffs are too high and he doesn't seem willing to change his position."

"And I told him, 'Forget the meeting, and frankly, we're thinking about putting tariffs on imported cars from Canada,'" Trump said.
According to the agency, the Canadian side stated that “no meeting was proposed.”
“No meeting was proposed. We have no further comment,” Trudeau spokeswoman Chantal Gagnon said.
Earlier it was reported that US and Mexico have agreed to conclude a new trade agreementwhich should replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
According to US President Donald Trump, negotiations with Canada, which is also a party to the NAFTA agreement, should begin immediately.
He also threatened Canada with increased duties on cars, unless a three-way deal was reached.
In turn, Canada has long expressed a desire to remain a member of NAFTA, negotiations on the revision of the conditions of which have been going on for over a year, but were not invited until the last negotiations between the US and Mexico. Now Ottawa has to accept the terms of the tripartite agreement proposed to it, or negotiate with each country separately on a bilateral agreement.
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) between Canada, Mexico and the United States entered into force in 1994. The main purpose of the agreement is to eliminate barriers to trade and investment.
