Stumbled Israeli woman will receive compensation

The mayor's office of Rishon Lezion, one of the settlements in Israel, will pay 270 thousand shekels to a woman who tripped and fell while walking near a city shopping center. Despite the municipality's objections, the Tel Aviv Magistrate Court judge ruled in favor of the plaintiff.

In the statement of claim, the woman wrote that in July 2010, she, along with her young daughter, passed the shopping center. She stressed that the area, which is usually used for unloading heavy trucks, was poorly lit. For this reason, she did not notice the fiberglass scattered in place, stumbled and fell. Later, according to the plaintiffs, she began to have pain, and in the hospital where she turned, they found a crack in her left leg.

The woman also indicated that cardboard boxes and other garbage were lying on the spot, which the municipality did not clean itself on time and did not demand that the store owners keep it clean.

The municipality’s lawyers said in court that the plaintiff’s words were not credible, and the link between the injury and the lack of cleanliness in the area indicated seemed far-fetched. However, the judge rejected the defense arguments and issued a decision on compensation to the plaintiff.
