Russia ranked second in blocking information on Twitter

According to a Twitter report, in the last six months of 2014, Turkey has sent requests for content blocking to 477, Russia - 91, Germany - 43. The company noted that they received 1 court order and 98 applications from Roskomnadzor for this period.

In addition, Twitter noted that they rejected several requests criticizing the Russian government or reporting non-violent protests in Ukraine.

In May, 2014, the deputy head of Roskomnadzor, Maxim Zenzov, announced that they could block Twitter and Facebook in Russia. Then the department called it his personal position. He also noted that the leadership of some foreign Internet companies does not come into contact with the Russian authorities and “uses users as a policy tool”.
