The White House worker forgot passwords from mail with secret information at the bus stop
A White House employee recorded his passwords for encrypted service e-mail and left a list with this information at a bus stop in Washington, DC.
The person who discovered the paper gave it to the journalists of the publication. Intercept, wishing to remain anonymous.
Journalists were able to confirm the authenticity of the account. The information on the leaflet included data for logging in to the ProtonMail account of the White House employee named Ryan McAvoy.
Protonmail is an end-to-end encrypted email service often used by journalists, politicians, and anyone else who regularly handles sensitive information.
It is unclear whether the lost document led to the disclosure of any secret data.
Journalists failed to get a comment from MacAvoy.
