Large-scale wildfires in California have spread over a total area of 86,5 thousand hectares, which exceeds the area of the largest American metropolis - New York, writes Gismeteo.
California Governor Jerry Brown noted that the scale of destruction exceeded all forecasts. According to him, the current California fires - the largest and most deadly in the history of California.
US President Donald Trump declared the north of California a natural disaster area. At least 40 people died in the fires; not a single natural fire in the last 84 of the year claimed so many lives in California.
The flames burned 5,7 thousands of buildings, 100 thousands of Californians left their homes.
As of October 15, 17 fires were active, with which 10 thousands of firefighters fought.
The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office in California published a video from a chest video camera of a police officer. On the record, police officers drive through the area engulfed in flames in search of residents who have fallen into a fire trap.
At some point, they run into a woman in a wheelchair next to her house and pick her up in a police off-road vehicle.
Then the officer who put on the camera, rides through the smoke, sparks and, it seems, even through the flames, then safely gets out of the fire.
Recall from October 8 more than ten fires are raging in northern Californiawho have already claimed the lives of 40 people.
