Pokemon noticed at the Auschwitz Holocaust Memorial Museum
Players at Pokemon GO discovered that on the territory of the memorial complex, opened at the site of the Auschwitz concentration camp, a so-called pokestop appeared - a place in which pocket monsters catchers can replenish resources or arrange a battle between their pokemon. Reports about it The Daily Mail.
The same points were found in military cemeteries in the United States and in the American Holocaust Museum. At the same time, the Holocaust Museum in the USA already asked visitors refrain from catching Pokemon, calling such behavior in a place dedicated to the victims of Nazism inappropriate.
It is noted that a year ago almost the same incident occurred with the game with elements of augmented reality Ingress, which was created by the same company as the Pokemon GO. Then the developers had to apologize for what happened.
Pokemon Go is a game with elements of augmented reality for gadgets based on Android and iOS, launched on July 6. Players move around the city with smartphones, look for Pokemon and catch them with virtual pokeballs. Caught pocket monsters can be trained and then fought with other players.
The Auschwitz concentration camp (or Auschwitz) was located 60 kilometers from Krakow. It is considered the largest and most long-existing Nazi extermination camp, as well as one of the main symbols of the Holocaust. According to various estimates, about 1,4 million people were killed in Auschwitz, more than a million of them were Jews. Today, the camp operates a museum.
