Why in Hollywood movies New York is destroyed most often
The American city of New York leads in the number of its destruction in the movies.
Edition CNN counted 70 films in which the city was wiped off the face of the earth.
At the same time, Paris suffered this fate in only 13 films, Los Angeles - in 26.
Types of cinematic destruction of New York were the most diverse: tsunamis, aliens, viruses, and even a giant donut.
Dr. Max Page, who wrote a book about the cinematic destruction of New York, believes that the destruction of the city in films is a projection of people's real fear of such an opportunity.
For example, during the Cold War, when such films began to appear, people were afraid of nuclear annihilation, and the theme of the destruction of New York reflected these fears; when environmental issues in the USA came out on top, New York sank or froze in movies.
In addition, one of the reasons may simply be a manifestation of love for New York in the sense that the loss of this beautiful city is the main fear of many people, and this fear is projected onto the screen.
