A new column of migrants from Honduras advanced towards the USA

From Honduras to the United States went a new column of migrants. On Saturday, citizens who wanted to leave the country began to gather at the bus station in the city of San Pedro Sula and started early Sunday morning in the direction of the Guatemalan border.

In total, the caravan has about 400 people. More than a hundred have already arrived at the border and are awaiting document verification, writes RIA News.

Earlier it was reported that a group of about two thousand Honduran migrants on the night of Friday moved from Guatemala to Mexico.

The situation with migrants

Caravans of migrants from Central American countries began to move toward the US through Mexico last fall.
As a result, a large number of citizens of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador accumulated on the border with the United States. According to various estimates, there are between six and nine thousand.

Some of them returned to their homeland, some remain in Mexico.

The US authorities have deployed several thousand troops to the border to ensure security.

Let us recall that United States President Donald Trump considers it necessary to build a fence on the border with Mexico. The conflict over funding for the border wall has led to a record government shutdown that has been in place since December 22.
